Brands Who Are Making a Difference and Giving Back

We have all heard "put your money where your mouth is" and when it comes to supporting brands, I think we should all follow this rule.

As consumers, we have to expect more from the brands we are supporting and helping grow. We should pay attention to what our money is promoting and what those brands are doing to give back to the community.

Let's look at what some of the biggest brands/companies are doing to help make the world a better place.

Verizon 

Verizon has partnered with Hawaiian Electric to help them reach their goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045. They will be developing and expanding a network of solar panels to help Hawaii protect their environment and achieve sustainability goals.

Patagonia 

Patagonia is an outdoor apparel brand whose focus is to “build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, [and] use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.” They focus on minimizing their impacts on the environment and sustainability. They also partner with grassroots activist working on finding solutions to the environmental crisis

TED

TED's mission is to spread ideas and information from every culture and discipline. They believe education is the key to positive change and encourage anyone to participate in discussions and learn from others. TED also has many programs and initiatives to leverage the power of ideas.

Etsy

Etsy is determined to close the gap of female programmers. Etsy provides ten Hacker Grants to women who are interested in becoming programmers and need financial support to enroll in the Hacker School program in New York.

Ben & Jerry's 

Ben & Jerries makes sure that all of their supply chain partners take the B Impact Assesment and determines their social and environmental impact. To supply to the company, suppliers must be considered a socially responsible business and pass rigorous standards to achieve certification.
